Camera Angles

In this blog post, I will explain the different angles that are used by film makers in order to communicate different perspectives and interpretations of frames.

High Angle:

-         - This picture displays a high angle view. The angle is meant to make the subject look weak. In the picture provided the dog is looking up into the camera, which can make the viewer perceive him as submissive to the person behind the camera.

-           Low Angle:

      - The picture above demonstrates a low angle view. This angle is meant to uphold the subject to a position of power. From this angle, it seems like the dog is looking down on the viewer and giving a side eye. It conveys that the dog is dominant and the viewer is submissive to him.

      Canted Angle:

          - The image displays a canted angle. Canted angles are meant to showcase many different emotions. The camera being slanted to the side can portray uneasiness, distress, mania, and can even magnify tension. In this case, the image provided can be perceived as uneasiness from the person taking the picture.
